Andre Byham will be the 20th person to serve as mayor, (formerly reeves), of Chapleau, Ontario.
The Chapleau Express provided up-to-date results after the polls closed Monday night..
Mr. Byham, a current member of Chapleau Township council, was leading his closest rival William Pellow by 450 votes. In third place was Kimmo Keski-Pukkila.
At 6:30 am ET, Tuesday, results showed as follows:
Andre Byham, 735 votes; William Pellow, 285 votes: and Kimmo Keski-Pukkila, 75 votes.
Tuesday morning, voting results showed that Lisi Crichton, Laurent Lacroix, Doug Greig and Rose Bertrand. would be the new councillors for the next four year term.
Mr. Greig and Ms Bertrand are members of the present council while it is Ms Crichton's first run for council. Interestingly, her great grandfather Vincent Crichton served as a Chapleau councillor in 1921. Mr. Lacroix had previously been a member of Chapleau council. Ms Bertrand and Pierrette Ouelette who is a newcomer had been in a seesaw battle for the fourth councillor position.
Votes for councillor were: Lisi Crichton, 722 votes; Laurent Lacroix, 683 votes; Doug Greig, 657 votes; Rose Bertrand, 572 votes; Pierrette Ouelette, 556 votes and Ron Yurick, 351 votes.
Mr. Byham will succeed Earle Freeborn who did not seek re-election.
